Summer is in full swing, and now is the perfect time to appreciate the great outdoors. There are plenty of amazing camping spots in West Virginia. Here are three of our favorites spots:
You don’t have to travel for long from downtown Lewisburg (approximately 15 minutes) to reach the natural beauty of Greenbrier River Campground. The campground stretches over 8 acres and gives you access to the Greenbrier River. Whether you are traveling in an RV, staying in a rental or tent camping along the riverside, you will find the perfect spot at Greenbrier River Campground. Activities include fishing, swimming, tubing, canoeing and kayaking.
If you truly want to get away from it all and immerse yourself in the sounds of nature, stake your claim at Bear Heaven Campground. The rustic site located near Elkins in the Monongahela National Forest boasts only eight sites for tent or van camping. Water is not available onsite, but hiking opportunities are magnificent ranging from the Middle Road Trail to the Otter Creek Wilderness paths.
Approximately 8,000 acres of lush forest complete with impeccable views and rushing waterfalls surround you at Holley River State Park in Hacker Valley. There are 42 miles of trails to hike or bike. Electrical hook-ups are available at all 88 campsites.
